3 D PRINTING 2 KEYCHAINS

1. Keychain with name engraved 

 DESIGN IN TINKER CAD

  • Take a rectangle in the basic shapes section in tinker cad
  • Adjust the measurements length 6cm (60mm), width 2cm (20mm) and height 0.5cm (5mm)
  • Select the text option and enter the desired name to be printed or engraved on the rectangle.
  • For the keychain to be hanged, take a cylinder from the shapes section. Make it a hole and change diameter to 0.2cm (2mm). Insert it on the desired point to hang the keychain.
  • Drag the text inside the rectangle in such a way that it should be engraved and make it a group. The design in tinker cad is ready to exported in the 3 D printer software.
  • Download the design with a ".stl"extension on your PC/ Desktop.

IMPORTING IN ORCA SLICER
  • Import the .stl file in orca slicer.
  • Select the strength of the project( eg 40%etc) and select to give support.
  • Further, under the slice plate tab, the time require to print the project is visible. For this keychain the time required was 16 minutes and 30 seconds.
  • Further, export the G-code file to your desktop/ PC and copy it in a pen drive. The G-code is a language which the printer understands.



USING THE 3D PRINTER
  • Firstly, clean the bed of the 3D printer with the help of a surface cleaner and a microfiber cloth.
  • Further apply glue with the help of a glue stick on the area of the bed where the object is to be printed.
  • Insert the pen drive, copy the G-code file in the printer, and start bed levelling.
  • After completing bed levelling, start printing the object.
  • After completion of the printing, remove the object safely from the printer, clean the bed for further use.








2.PRINTING A CHARACTER FACED KEYCHAIN

 DESIGN IN TINKER CAD
  • In tinker cad, under the creatures and character section, this character face is available for design. Select the character face.
  • Adjust the measurements as length 3cm (30mm), width 3cm (30mm) and height 3cm (30mm) respectively.
  • Now, select a cylinder from the shapes section and make it a hole. Take the diameter of the hole as 0.3cm (3mm). Insert the cylinder at the desired point to hang the key chain.
  • Further, group the design and the design in tinker cad is ready to export in the 3D printer software.
  • Download the design with a ".stl"extension on your PC/ Desktop.

PAINTING THE KEYCHAIN
  • The filament inside the 3D printer was white coloured, which was not matching the design in tinker cad and hence we decided to colour it according to the design.
