Rain Water Sensor

RAIN WATER SENSOR

Components Required:
  1. Rainwater Sensor
  2. Breadboard
  3. Module
  4. 9V Battery
  5. LED
  6. Buzzer
  7. Jumper Wires

Connections:
  1. Connect the battery to respective positive and negative terminals of the breadboard.
  2. Connect the male to female jumper wires to the module. Negative terminal to ground(GND) and the positive terminal to UCC.
  3. Connect the D0 anywhere in the bread board.
  4. Connect the module to the rainwater sensor.
  5. Take one terminal of the jumper wire ,connect it to the positive column of the breadboard and the other end to the positive terminal of the buzzer.
  6. Further, take another jumper wire and connect one end to the D0 (16th) column and other end of the jumper wire to the negative terminal of the buzzer.
  7. Similarly, connect the jumper wires for the positive and negative terminals of the LED respectively.

\Working Principle:

  • When the water falls on the rainwater sensor, the circuit is completed and the buzzer and the LED turns on
  • It basically works on the principle of conductivity. When water or rain comes in contact with the sensor, the sensor turns into a variable resistor and the amount of rainfall can be determined.
  • These sensors are commonly used as automobile windshield wipers and automatic roof and window closure.
